ABCO Foods was a chain of grocery stores in Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona from 1984 until 2001. The "ABCO Markets" name came about after the 5 year Alpha Beta branding agreement expired. The stores were sold to Fleming Companies, Inc. in 1996 and changed to "ABCO Foods Desert Marketplace". When Fleming decided to pull out of the retail category, ABCO was the first to go, being sold to many different companies. There were 56 stores at the time of closure. The last store closed in 2001.
