Air California

Air California began in 1967 as an intrastate airline operating solely within California. Air California was headquartered in Newport Beach, California. In 1978, Air California expanded its service to several destinations in neighboring states. By the 1980s, it was flying to Chicago, Seattle, Anchorage, and Vancouver, as well as other destinations in the western U.S. In 1981, the airline was renamed to Air-Cal. It later merged into American Airlines in 1987.
