King Karol Music Stores

King Karol was a New York-based music store chain founded by Ben Karol and Phil King in 1952. King Karol had a total of 7 locations and was one of New York's largest music stores. In the early 80s, Tower Records opened a 34,000-square-foot superstore in Manhattan, which made it tough for most to compete. By 1987, King Karol was down to two stores, and by 1993, they were no longer around.
