Incorporated in 1847, the Milwaukee Road was a Class I railroad that operated in the Midwest and Northwest of the United States. The Milwaukee was innovative, pioneering long-distance electrification, construction of all-welded freight and passenger cars, and the operation of high-speed intercity passenger trains. The road employed thousands and touched millions of people during its operation. The Milwaukee would operate until 1986, when it would be merged into the Soo Line Railroad.
