Players Restaurant

Players Restaurant opened in 1981 and was a University of Texas landmark. The owners were both graduates of the University of Texas at Austin. They had a simple concept: serve quality food, fresh and hot, with a diverse menu and inexpensive prices. For convenience, they even offered a drive-thru and late-night hours. The Players name came from its close proximity to all UT sporting facilities, its popularity with UT coaches and athletes, and the sports featured in the dining room on the big screen TV. Players was forced to close in 2014 when their lease was terminated after the University of Texas acquired the property.
