The iconic Purple Porpoise Pub opened in 1979 in Gainesville and quickly became a popular Gator student hangout spot. The Porpoise became the go-to spot for fans to hit before and after games. The Porpoise closed in 2002, with patrons holding a candlelight vigil along the bar.
