Strawbridge & Clothier

Strawbridge & Clothier was a department store in the northeast, with stores in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. By the 1980s, Strawbridge & Clothier enjoyed annual sales of over a billion dollars. Strawbridge's would become part of the May Department Stores in the 1990s until May's acquisition by Federated Department Stores in the early 2000s. In 2006, the former May Company divisions were all dissolved, and operating control of the remaining Strawbridge's stores was assumed by Macy's East. All Strawbridge's were completely phased out in favor of the Macy's brand.
