YELLOW FRONT SURPLUS STORES

Yellow Front was a discount store in Phoenix that started in the 1950s as a single Army surplus store before evolving into a sporting goods chain and later a discount chain. Yellow Front Stores were acquired by Lucky Stores but continued to operate as Yellow Front. In 1987, there were 104 Yellow Front Stores in eight states. Yellow Front filed for bankruptcy in 1990, and eventually all of its stores would be closed.
